Open Water Diver Course

Academic and Confined Water Class
  • You have several choices for the academic portion of the Open Water Diver Course: a traditional class (scheduled sessions with an instructor) or self-study at your own pace at your own home. Today, most students choose to use one of the self-study options, as you read, study and learn on your own pace and on your own schedule. You have the choice of VHS, DVD, CD-ROM, or, if you have internet access (preferably high speed), an online program. With the CD-ROM and online programs, there is no manual to read, you just follow the program! Click here for more information.
  • The confined water portion of your training or, what we call pool fun, is usually accomplished in two or three 3 to 4 hour sessions.
  • We teach a logical, foundation building method so that important skills become second nature. Confidence and competence is key.
  • Mask, fins, and snorkel are required for each student. All other equipment will be provided including a dive computer. All instruction includes the use of a personal dive computer. A computer will keep track of your dive while you have fun!
  • Minimum class size is two students. Private classes are available at an additional cost.
  • Whatever option you choose for academic and confined water training, the cost is the same- $325. This includes all materials, pool use fees, your choice of student kit (VHS, DVD, CD-ROM, or Online), a logbook, and all equipment (other than mask, fins and snorkel).

Open Water Certification
  • The open water certification completes the Open Water Diver Course. Students are not certified to dive without supervision until they complete the open water certification.
  • Open water certifications are usually completed in Utah at the Homestead Crater. See our trips page for more information.
  • Minimum class size is two students. Private trips can be arranged at an additional cost.
  • For our certifications in Utah, good estimate of cost is $325.00 per person. This includes accomodations, entry fees, rental equipment, etc. This estimate is based on one night's stay and double occupancy for hotel rooms. Your meals and transportation are not included. Upon successful completion of Open Waters, your certification card (C-card) will cost $20.00. Costs can vary. We'll let you know exact costs as soon as we know them!
